The UWAMSA play a multi function role for the Muslim students and staffs on campus. We hold regular social and Islamic events, provide various services, maintain the Muslim prayer room, participate in University events and represents Muslim students at UWA
Our History
The Muslim Student Association was revived in 1989, with a meeting in the Mathematics Senior lab at Maghrib at time on a day in August. In the period 1989-1992, the association held most of it's activities in the makeshift rooms in various departments throughout the campus. In 1992, the University provided us with a prayer room but the location was too far from the main campus. However, the members at the time still managed to pray all but Asr and Maghrib prayers there. During 1993-97, Muslim student were left without a proper place for prayers as the prayer room became a part of Education and Fine Arts department. With Allah's help, the effort by some Muslim students was rewarded with suitable prayer room in Winthrop Hall back in 1997.
